What is Shortlist?

Shortlist is a video application platform that connects candidates with hiring teams. Candidates record short video answers to screening questions set by the hiring team. Hiring teams review those videos to decide who to move forward in their process.

Who uses Shortlist

There are two types of users:

  • Candidates — people who apply for jobs by recording video answers.
  • Hiring teams — people who create jobs, set screening questions, and review candidate videos.

Candidate obligations

By using Shortlist as a candidate, you agree to:

  • Provide truthful and accurate information (name, email, video responses).
  • Record video content that is appropriate and professional. No offensive, harmful, or misleading content.
  • Only submit content you have the right to share. You retain ownership of your video recordings.
  • Submit only one application per email address per job posting.

Hiring team obligations

By using Shortlist as a hiring team member, you agree to:

  • Use candidate videos and data solely for evaluating applicants for the specific job they applied to.
  • Not share, distribute, or publish candidate videos outside your organization without the candidate's explicit consent.
  • Comply with applicable employment and anti-discrimination laws.
  • Treat candidate data with care and respect candidate privacy.

Video data

Your video recordings are handled with care:

  • Videos are stored securely and encrypted in transit.
  • Videos are only accessible to the hiring team for the specific job you applied to.
  • Videos are not used for any purpose other than evaluating your application, unless you give explicit consent.
  • We do not sell video data to third parties.

Account termination

We may suspend or terminate access to Shortlist if:

  • You violate these terms.
  • You submit abusive, offensive, or fraudulent content.
  • Your use of the platform harms other users or the service itself.

Hiring teams can close their accounts at any time. Candidates can request deletion of their data by contacting us.

Limitation of liability

Shortlist is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do our best to keep the platform reliable and secure, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or that all data will be preserved indefinitely. Shortlist is not liable for hiring decisions made by teams using the platform, or for outcomes related to job applications.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify users through the platform or by email. Continued use of Shortlist after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
